WHAT IS ENDOVENOUS ABLATION?

This is a procedure where a physician uses ultrasound guidance to direct a laser fiber into the damaged vein. Anesthetic (numbing) fluid will be injected around the vein to protect the surrounding tissue. A laser is used to seal the unhealthy vein closed using heat. When the unhealthy (varicose) vein closes off blood flow is then redirected to healthy veins and symptoms typically resolve.
